Tyra Young

Tyra Young brings a strong commitment to education, equity, and organizational excellence. Her commitment to educational equity is rooted in her early work supporting TRiO students, where she witnessed firsthand how access, mentorship, and advocacy can transform academic and personal trajectories. She remains deeply committed to building pathways that expand opportunity and ensure every student regardless of background can thrive.

Tyra serves as an Executive Assistant at Watershed Advisors, supporting a team of Managing Directors. Tyra is known for her ability to bring structure to complex environments, streamline operations, and manage multiple priorities with clarity and precision. Her work often bridges administrative leadership with program, research, and operational needs across teams.

Prior to joining Watershed, Tyra worked as an Operations Manager at a nonprofit focused on achieving social justice through educational measurement, where she coordinated cross-departmental processes, supported research initiatives, and strengthened organizational systems.

Tyra earned her B.A. in History with double minors in American studies and Political Science from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte and holds an M.Ed. in Higher Education and Student Affairs/Administration from the University of South Carolina. She further expanded her expertise by obtaining the SHRM-CP certification, adding a strong grounding in Human Resources, talent processes, and organizational development.
