Sophia Alejandro

Sophia Alejandro is an Analyst at Watershed Advisors, where she brings a deep commitment to advancing equitable outcomes through effective public policy and strong public institutions. Her work is informed by a passion for education, affordable housing, and economic and workforce development, with a particular interest in how policy decisions translate into tangible improvements in people’s lives.

Sophia began her career in the classroom through Teach For America, where she witnessed the day-to-day realities facing students and educators in under-resourced communities. That foundation carried her into broader advocacy and policy work. After teaching, she joined UnidosUS, the nation’s largest Latino civil rights and advocacy organization, where she supported efforts advancing equity for Latino communities across the country in K-12 and ECE initiatives. Most recently, Sophia served in the Mayor’s Office in San Antonio, Texas, where she helped develop and advance cross-sector initiatives that strengthened opportunities for residents and supported long-term community growth.

She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism and Public Relations, a Master of Arts in Teaching, and a Master of Public Administration. She currently resides in San Antonio, TX.
