Merlyn Tejada is passionate about improving the birth to grade 12 American education system with a keen focus on helping those most in need. This passion for education arises from a deep conviction that it is one of the most powerful investments we can make to ensure a better tomorrow.
Merlyn serves as an analyst at Watershed Advisors supporting Early Childhood initiatives. She was previously a budget analyst at the Louisiana Department of Education, where she supported the allocation of over $150 million to school systems and positioned herself as strategic fiscal thought partner to help in programmatic initiatives. In this role, she gained invaluable public sector experience and technical skills in managing taxpayer dollars. During her time in Baton Rouge, she also served as a college mentor through the Baton Rouge Youth Coalition.
Merlyn holds a B.A in Sustainable Development from Columbia University. She currently lives in the South Bronx, where she was born and raised.
