Before joining Watershed, Karin served as the Senior Vice President of School Transformation, Literacy at the Partnership for Los Angeles Schools, a nationally recognized school turnaround organization serving 20 schools and more than 13,000 students in the Los Angeles Unified School District. As an independent consultant, Karin has supported districts in developing tools and resources to promote high-quality instruction, designed and delivered professional learning, contributed to state-level literacy standards revisions, and authored publications on HQIM best practices and the systems that support strong instruction and student growth. Earlier in her career, she worked for the Achievement Network in Washington, D.C., supporting district and charter schools in implementing Common Core standards and aligned assessments.
Karin began her career as a high school English teacher and New York City Teaching Fellow. She holds a B.A. in Literature from Yale University and an M.A. in English Education from City College of New York. She currently lives in Los Angeles with her family.
