Andrew Shachat is a Director at Watershed Advisors. Prior to joining Watershed, Andrew served as the Director of Accountability Policy and Analytics at the Louisiana Department of Education (LDOE). In that role, he oversaw the implementation and communication of the state’s K-12 accountability system and played a key role in the state’s policy response to the COVID-19 pandemic. As the former manager of the LDOE’s data request team, Andrew brings to Watershed years of experience in analytics, developing tools to help people at all levels use data to drive decision making. In addition, he previously served as the manager of Louisiana’s statewide charter authorization program, and he supported Louisiana’s Recovery School District in data analytics. He began his career in the classroom as a high school chemistry teacher in the Metro Nashville Public School system.
Andrew holds a bachelor’s degree with distinction in American Studies, as well as a bachelor’s degree in Foreign Affairs, from the University of Virginia. He also holds a master’s degree in Education with a focus in Instructional Practice from Lipscomb University. He is a New Orleans native and is proud to call it home.
